Elections in Canada is a 140-year old process. Canadians, over time, were guarenteed the right to vote by the constitution.
To vote in Canada one must show proper authorized identification and be 18. Elections are held regularly every fourth october.
The Prime Minister can decide when there are to be elections, however. When the time comes, the Govenor General, appointed by
the House of Commons, breaks up the parliament. This dissolvation of parliament and the actual election day by law must be
within 36 days of eachother. Another position, the chief electoral officer, is appointed to make sure that the representitives were
chosen fairly by their party.
